Work is underway by the City of Santa Clarita to construct new sidewalks where gaps exist along major roadways as part of the City’s Sidewalk Gap Closure Project. Earlier this year, the first phase was completed and sidewalk gaps were bridged along the north side of pedestrian-busy Soledad Canyon Road, between Langside Avenue and the bridge over the river at Camp Plenty Road. Phase two of the sidewalk project is currently in progress.
Sidewalks are concrete passageways that serve a vital role in connecting Santa Clarita residents safely throughout the community. As part of the effort to maintain the City’s infrastructure and to provide more accessible walking paths in neighborhoods, the City of Santa Clarita launched the multi-year Sidewalk Gap Closure Project.
The next step in the project will include improvements along the south side of Soledad Canyon Road between River Circle Drive and Miss Grace Drive. The project is scheduled to be completed by spring of 2016.
“By filling in the gaps along sidewalks that are frequently used by our residents, we’re building our pedestrian network and offering safe and alternative routes for residents to move safely through the city,” said Mayor Marsha McLean.

Have to lol! No sidewalks in my neighborhood! Not a problem either. You just walk on the streets!
What do we want? We want Golden Valley Road open!
When do we want it? Now!
Go team!
I thought it was open
I second the opening of Golden Valley Rd. to Plum. It’s overdue!
Can I suggest that a sidewalk be put on the south bound side of Sierra hwy between Friendly Valley parkway and Golden Valley way. It’s dirt, weeds and mud when it rains. Can’t repair sidewalk if you don’t put one in. Lived here and watched high school kids and adults walk that dirt path for years. Check it out. It’s kinda shameful for that to look like that for the 50 years we’ve lived here and drive by almost daily!!Atleast cut the two foot tall weeds where there is sidewalk near friendly valley.
Sidewalk needed between Sierra Hwy and Robert C Lee on Golden Valley on the hill side…students get off the city bus on Sierra Hwy and walk in the dirt or in the bike lane with cars going 50 mph. Very dangerous. ..
