Sam Price

[Poole & Shaffery] A full-service business law firm with a statewide practice in Santa Clarita announced that attorney Samuel R.W. Price has been promoted to partner in the firm.

Price has been with Poole & Shaffery since 2010, and is currently president of the Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association.

Price’s practice focuses on civil litigation, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex business disputes and commercial litigation, including matters related to construction and construction-defect, employment, and bankruptcy-related matters, among others.

“Sam has a deep understanding of the law and a commitment to excellence in his practice, and he has been a phenomenal asset to the firm,” Managing Partner John H. Shaffery said. “It was a very easy decision to name him as a partner, and we are very excited to have him step into this new role.”

Price has been repeatedly recognized by Super Lawyers® Magazine as a Rising Star in business litigation, an honor that is received by less than 2.5 percent of California attorneys. In addition to his involvement with the SCV Bar Association, where he has served on the Board of Trustees for several years, Price also serves on the Board of Trustees for the San Fernando Valley Bar Association, and maintains memberships in the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Building Industry Association of Southern California.

Among some of Price’s litigation achievements are obtaining a judgment for a permanent injunction from the United States District Court for the Central District of California for a client against its corporate competitor and owner based on violations of the federal statute prohibiting false advertising (Lanham Act), dismissal of a Fortune 500 company in an action alleging breach of contract relating to the purchase of product components, and the dismissal of a federal action alleging alter ego and fraud liability against the owner of an international corporation that had defaulted on a contractual obligation.

He has represented clients in state and federal courts, in mediations and arbitrations, and in administrative hearings before the Contractors State License Board and the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board.

In addition to civil litigation, Price has dealt extensively with bankruptcy cases, representing individuals and businesses in proceedings under Chapters 7, 11 and 13, and he continues to represent both debtors and creditors in bankruptcy-related litigation.

“I am proud to be part of the legal team at Poole & Shaffery, and humbled by their decision to name me as a partner,” Price said. “The firm has a remarkable track record and it is an honor to work with my colleagues in providing our clients the highest level of legal services.”

Price holds both bachelor of arts and juris doctor degrees from Boston College. Prior to practicing law, he provided project management services in the construction industry, and was the marketing coordinator for an award-winning multimedia production company.
