A Van Nuys man suspected of transporting more than 2,600 bundles of cocaine for sale was arrested in Gorman after Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies discovered the stash in his car during a traffic stop Thursday morning.
Here’s the story from the station’s social media posted on Saturday:
“One of our deputies patrolling Gorman intercepted the transportation of over 2,600 bundles of cocaine.
“Around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, the patrol deputy conducted a traffic stop on Gorman Post Road and made contact with a male adult driver, who appeared to show signs of being under the influence.
“He told the deputy he was ‘transporting supplements.’ He did have supplements in the backseat, however, he didn’t disclose the other items he was transporting — over 2,600 packets of cocaine!
“The Van Nuys man, 33, was arrested on felony charges of transportation of cocaine for sales.
“Gorman is located in the northernmost area we cover in our jurisdiction, and there are tens of thousands that travel by this small community on the I-5. We’ve increased our patrol coverage to cover this area day and night.
“If we can stop any illegal criminal activity, then we can give our residents an even higher level of protection.”
