Special Assignment Team deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrested three men on outstanding warrants and other charges last week while patrolling areas of the SCV where gang activity has been reported, station officials reported Tuesday night.
Here’s more of the story from the station’s social media:
“We are determined to keep our communities safe and protected from illegal activity.
“Here are some of the team’s results last week:
“* Deputies were patrolling in Newhall when they made contact with a suspicious adult male sitting in his vehicle on Newhall Avenue. Turns out he was a member of the Mexican Mafia gang and had nearly $200,000 in outstanding warrants.
“* Deputies made contact with a male adult riding a bicycle in Newhall. He tried to flee from deputies, but they caught up with him. Maybe he was trying to take off because he had $390,000 in outstanding warrants.
“* Deputies conducted a traffic stop in Canyon Country near Sierra Highway. The adult male driver was found to be on PRCS and had a no-bail warrant. PRCS stands for Post-Release Community Supervision, and it applies to persons being released from prison who are supervised by a local supervision agency vs. the state parole system. The suspect was additionally found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Keeping our city safe and secure is our No. 1 objective.”
