A Santa Clarita Valley resident’s tip led to Sheriff’s Station deputies arresting three for an alleged Val Verde chop shop.
Jose Terran, 30, and Juan Perez, 28, both of Val Verde, were arrested at their home on the 30800 block of San Martinez Road.
“A deputy responded to a location because a citizen saw someone stripping down a vehicle there,” said Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “When deputies arrived, they found a Honda Accord, which had been stripped and was in the system as a stolen vehicle in the (LAPD-Van Nuys division).”
Terran was accused of owning and operating a chop shop, and Perez was arrested for the same charge, officials said.
A third suspect, whose identity was not released, is being held on charges of drug possession and receiving stolen property.
Terran pleaded no contest to a possession of a controlled substance charge in October 2013, according to a District Attorney’s Office spokesman.
Terran is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
