Mark your calendars and get your golf clubs ready, because the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Shootout Golf Tournament is practically right around the corner. Set for Monday, April 15, 2013, the Sheriff’s Shootout will take place at Valencia’s fantastic Tournament Players Club golf course, and it benefits the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation. Registration starts at 8 a.m., with a 10 a.m. shotgun start and an awards dinner and auction at 5 p.m.

Headed by Sheriff Lee Baca, the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation comprises seven different programs: STAR, VIDA, START, BEAR, 999 for Kids, SHARE and the Youth Activities League, with locations throughout the county. The foundation focuses on providing children with safe facilities, structured programs and tools to help them thrive and succeed in life.

“The Sheriff’s Shootout promises to be a great day of sport and celebration, all while raising money for the foundation,” said John March, director of operations for the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation, and co-chair of the tournament. “At the end of the day, this is all about investing in the lives of Los Angeles County’s children. From those at risk to those with special needs, the foundation’s programs help prepare these kids for lives of success.”

Ten sponsorship level opportunities are available, ranging from $250 as a single course sign sponsor, to $50,000 as a tournament sponsor, with four teams of four, four course signs and a logo banner, lunch for two with Sheriff Baca and more. Individual golfer registration is $250 and it is $50 to attend the awards dinner only.

“I’ve got to tell you, it’s a privilege to be involved in the Sheriff’s Shootout,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Pro Tem Bob Kellar, tournament co-chair. “The men and women of our Sheriff’s Department are day-in, day-out pouring themselves into protecting and shaping our county’s youth. If that’s not reason enough to raise funds with a round of golf, I don’t know what is.”
