The Department of Public Works and Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County are hosting a free hazardous waste and E-waste roundup on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the College of the Canyons.
The roundup will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m., and will be located at the South Parking lot of the COC-Valencia campus.
Examples of accepted hazardous waste event are: brake fluid, paint thinner, cleaners with acid or lye, pesticides, household batteries or car batteries, pool chemicals, motor oil, expired pharmaceuticals, anti-freeze, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Acceptable E-waste are items such as computer monitors, televisions, computer CPUs, keyboards, printers, cellphones, and other similar items.
Hazardous waste from businesses will not be accepted. Other unacceptable waste items are products such as explosives or ammunition, trash and tires, white goods like refrigerators and stoves, and controlled substances.
Public Works asks to bring items in their original labeled containers, but they will also accept items brought in a sturdy box.
There is a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste per trip.
