Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station VIDA Program for “at-risk” youth ages 11 to 17 is now accepting applications.
If you are the parent or guardian of a young person between the ages of 11 to 17, and you are concerned about their behavior, or are worried that they are going to end up on the “wrong path,” but you’re not sure what to do, or how to redirect them, this program is for you.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station offers the VIDA (Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives) program for “at risk” youth ages 11-17 and the next academy begins February 16, 2016. If you are interested in finding out more about this program, you are invited to attend an informational meeting on either January 19th or January 26th at 7 p.m. The meetings will be held at the VIDA Academy site, which is located at Bouquet Canyon Elementary School, 28110 Wellston Drive, Santa Clarita.
VIDA is a structured 16-week academy designed to steer non-violent “at-risk” youth, between the ages of 11-17 away from negative behavior and truancy, while breaking the cycle of criminal behavior. VIDA utilizes proactive, innovative, cognitive based techniques to provide positive redirection for participants and their families. Deputies in the program work directly with community based organizations, teachers, psychologists, and drug counselors who donate their time and expertise to assist in the success of the program. VIDA is an effort to educate youth about their choices and the consequences of those choices. The cost of the entire program is only $75.00, which includes uniforms, lunches on Saturday, and all VIDA activities.

Every Wednesday — 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Class participant only)
Every Thursday — 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Class participant and parent or legal guardian)
Every Saturday — 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Class participant only)

This program is a joke! All it does is have military rejects scream in kids faces a few hours a day. Won’t change anything, its a waste of time
I was sent to this program as a teen and hasn’t even smoke a cigarette at the time. They encouraged us to befriend other delinquent kids and spend time with them, which I did. I ended up doing and selling drugs for another kid in the program. I begged my grandparents to take me out since it only made me worse and they did. This is def NOT the right approach for troubled teens!
