Officials at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are asking the public for help in finding a suspect involved in an attempted kidnapping Wednesday night near Bridgeport Park.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., a 12-year-old female soccer player from Santa Clarita United was running with her team when she developed a cramp and fell behind. Elisabeth Perez, the girl’s mother, said that is when a man approached her daughter in the vicinity of Bridgeport Lane and Waterside Court.
“He asked her a couple of questions and then grabbed her arm and tried to pull her to his vehicle,” Perez said. “She kicked him in the leg, and he let go, and she ran up to her group who wasn’t that far away from her.”
The suspect got back in his car and fled.
Deputies were called to the scene. The girl described the man as a tall, Caucasian male with brown hair, 40-50 years old, 6-foot-5 to 6-foot-6, weighing 150-175 pounds, wearing a black jacket and jeans.
He was driving a black sedan, possibly a Honda or Toyota, with tinted windows and a dent on the passenger side from what appeared to be a prior collision.
Perez said her daughter was OK but still in shock.
“She is shaken up and a bit traumatized,” Perez said. “We are, too.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the SCV Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.

So now our junior high girls need to learn about pepper spray. They need to invent a paint pepper spray, so they can have a bright purple paint on they face , they can’t get off, easy to find these predators.

I saw that. Thanks.
I wonder if Bridgeport school or any of the surrounding homes have surveillance video.

It can happen anywhere!
Crazy people all over…?
Not good news!
This says the suspect fled on foot? If so then you have his car right? Or is this an error and he fled in the black sedan with a dent in the side? Is there any connection to the reported attempted kidnapping at Heritage Park a week or two ago? I never heard much about that one?

In light of the abduction attempt yesterday, I asked Ed Monaghan to conduct a workshop to help our community arm parents and children against possible abduction situations and he kindly and generously agreed. He works with SWAT, law enforcement and is highly trained in teaching children (and adults) practical skills in self defense.
Please share this FREE seminar with your family and friends! We need to arm our kids with awareness, confidence and the right skills!

We need to teach our kids about predators Start teaching them early on but at an age appropriate level. Teach them to understand what their 6th sense is and how to listen to it. Teach them it’s okay to hit, kick, bite and scream under certain circumstances and make sure they know that they won’t get into trouble for it if they truly believe they are in danger. Review potential scenarios with them and have detailed discussions on how they can respond. Don’t condemn them or punish them if they are trying to do the right thing but make a mistake. Find opportunities in every day life that can be teaching tools for them and keep an ongoing dialogue.
It sounds like this girl was prepared and knew it was okay to kick him and run for help. I’m so grateful that was the case here.
If she or her parents are reading this, please tell her that I (a stranger but also a parent) am proud of her.
This is one mom’s opinion.
Yves ArganaCachuela I was there at this time. I saw a few black cars, 2 groups of soccer teams practicing, and sheriff drive by a little after 5pm but did not notice this happened
Wow. Guardian angel ? is watching over you. You’re so blessed
Is the physical description of the subject correct? 150 – 175 pounds does not seem right for a man six-five or six-six in height.
I drop my daughter off for soccer practice ! Never again
