Angela Hockaday presents her 11/11/11 11:11 baby to the world.
When Alexander David Hockaday Ruiz grows up, he won’t have a hard time remembering what time of day he was born.
Nine-pound, 4-ounce Alexander entered the world at the 11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th year of the century at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
In Room 1111 of the hospital’s new women’s pavilion, of course.
And no, it wasn’t a planned cesarean section, hospital officials insist. It was natural childbirth.
Already a mother of four, Angela Hockaday of Panorama City came to Holy Cross in labor Thursday night around 8 p.m., hospital spokeswoman Pat Aidem said.
“Hoping this might be the 11:11 a.m. baby, the nurses assigned her to Room 1111,” Aidem said in an e-mail. “The doctor arrived with about five minutes to spare. The nurses outside were watching the mother’s progress on a monitor and were certain of an 11:11 delivery and knew it happened when we all heard cheers from behind the closed door.”
“The entire floor broke out in applause,” Aidem said. “Baby Alexander was dressed in a tiny Dodgers outfit. His dad says he’s the next Clayton Kershaw.”
Odd as it was, what’s weirder is that Providence Holy Cross has done it before. Amanda Canfield of Newhall gave birth to baby Luke at 10:10 a.m. on 10/10/2010.
