Two suspects from Bakersfield are facing federal charges following their arrest in Canyon Country by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies last Thursday.
Here’s the story posted Tuesday afternoon on the station’s social media:
“During the early morning hours of Nov. 29, deputies patrolling in Canyon Country came across a vehicle near the intersection of Whites Canyon Road and Soledad Canyon Road.
“Using department resources, deputies checked the license plate number and discovered that the Chrysler sedan was in the system as being stolen.
“A traffic stop was conducted pending a stolen vehicle investigation. Within the vehicle, deputies found stolen mail, identification cards belonging to different people, mailbox keys, mail locks, narcotics, and burglary tools.
“The two occupants of the vehicle, a female, 23, and a male, 37, from Bakersfield were arrested on several felony charges, transported and booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“The handling detective was informed this week that the two suspects were transferred into federal custody on Monday and will be charged federally for the crimes, instead of at the state level.”
