A homeless man was arrested Tuesday night for allegedly stabbing another man during an altercation in Canyon Country.
Dale Lovera, 52, of Canyon Country, was arrested on attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and battery related to fight that occurred Tuesday night in the Santa Clara Riverbed, said
Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
While patrolling the area near Oak Avenue and Santa Clarita Street, deputies saw a GMC truck that, upon a closer inspection, had a man inside, who was bleeding from his head and back.
The man said he was involved in a fight that occurred about a half-mile north of his location.
During the scuffle, Lovera stabbed the victim in the side of the head and in his back, according to witnesses, Dubin said.
Deputies searched the area, interviewed several witnesses and then found Lovera in a tent near where witnesses indicated that a fight had taken place.
The fight occurred late Tuesday evening, but deputies came upon the victim during an early morning patrol of the area, Dubin said.
The victim was treated by paramedics who were called to the scene by the deputies who found the victim.
The victim is being treated at a local area hospital, and currently under observation as of Wednesday afternoon. His condition is considered stable, according to officials.
Lovera is being held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on $1 million bail. He does not yet have a court date according to Sheriff’s Department records.
