DeAnn Marshall
After a national search, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has named DeAnn Marshall of Sunland, Calif., as senior vice president, chief development and marketing officer.
In her new capacity, she will lead the hospital’s Foundation department, filling the role of senior vice president and chief development officer, and continue her duties directing the hospital’s Marketing Communications Department.
Marshall was selected based on her significant contributions to the hospital, as well as her previous experience raising philanthropic revenue in the non-profit sector. “We believe DeAnn possesses the skills and abilities to effectively lead our Foundation and prepare us for the next major capital campaign,” says Richard D. Cordova, FACHE, president and CEO, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “DeAnn will continue to manage the Marketing Communications Department and oversee all aspects of our internal and external brand identity.”
Since joining Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in 2010, Marshall has overseen the hospital’s first comprehensive branding initiative and advertising campaign, resulting in a change to the hospital logo, graphic identity and tagline – We Treat Kids Better. Since the campaign launched, top-of-mind awareness for the hospital has increased as a result of her efforts and Children’s Hospital leads the market in pediatric service preference and market share.
Marshall joined Children’s Hospital Los Angeles from the University of California San Diego (UCSD), where she served as chief marketing communications officer for Health Sciences. Prior to UCSD, she spent 12 years at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh serving in a variety of capacities, the last of which was executive vice president and chief development officer of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.
Marshall is a graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. She expects to complete her master’s degree in Health Administration from the University of Southern California in November.
