SCVNews.com readers who reported Tuesday that one of the city of Santa Clarita’s red-light cameras was “flashing like crazy” won’t be cited, officials said.
A red-light camera at Valencia Boulevard and McBean Parkway appeared to be snapping pictures of random drivers regardless of whether they entered the intersection legally, readers said.
City officials contacted Phoenix-based Redflex Traffic Systems Inc., which operates the cameras. The company sent a technician to the intersection for troubleshooting.
Redflex confirmed that the “main camera was not functioning and it was causing extra flashes at that intersection,” city Traffic Engineer Mark Hunter said Wednesday.
“There were no incidents captured on the camera yesterday,” he said, “so while there were flashes going off, there is no possibility of anyone getting a ticket.”
