The city of Santa Clarita encourages interested residents to apply for a position serving on the Santa Clarita City Council.
This position is available as a result of the seat vacated by Dante Acosta upon his election to the California State Assembly. The person appointed to fill the vacancy will serve the balance of the term, which is currently scheduled to end on December 11, 2018.
Pursuant to Elections Code section 201, an applicant must be a registered voter 18-years or older and must maintain their principal residence in the City of Santa Clarita at the time of appointment and during their term of office. Daytime and evening availability is also required. All applicants must submit their signed, original application and three letters of recommendation to the City Clerk’s Office. Interested parties may obtain further information from the City Clerk’s Office, 23920 Valencia Blvd., Ste. 120, or by calling (661) 255-4391.
Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s office at Santa Clarita City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 120. All application papers must be received in the City Clerk’s Office by the deadline at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017. Applications turned in later than the deadline, postmarks, electronic submissions, and emails will NOT be accepted. The City Council will hold a Special Meeting on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, to discuss the applications received.
