May is National Bike Month, and you’re invited to celebrate locally with free bike-themed events hosted by the city of the Santa Clarita throughout the entire month.
On Saturday, May 11, cyclists of all ages and experience levels are invited to ride together and explore the city of Santa Clarita’s trail system at the annual Hit the Trail Community Bike Ride, presented by Curtiss-Wright, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Valencia Heritage Park (24155 Newhall Ranch Road).
Mayor Marsha McLean will kick off the free event with a welcome, followed by a guided non-competitive 4-mile and 9-mile bicycle ride, as well as a family fun fair with activities, food, tricycle races and more. No registration is required to attend.
On Wednesday, May 15, join fellow cycling fans at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse at the Westfield Valencia Town Center, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the Amgen Tour of California Stage 4 Recap Viewing Party. Win cool swag and raffle prizes, including gift cards and signed rider jerseys. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. The race recap begins at 7:00 p.m., so be sure to arrive early.
On Thursday, May 16, ditch the car and ride your bike to work to win prizes and claim giveaways as part of the Bike to Work Day Challenge.
