The Santa Clarita WorkSource Center is hosting a free, pre-training eligibility workshop for individuals interested in CNC Machinist Operator Training at College of the Canyons through the FastTrack Institute. The event will take place Friday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Santa Clarita WorkSource Center, located at the College of the Canyons’ Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center.
The CNC Machinist Operator Training is designed for candidates seeking entry-level positions in CNC manufacturing operations in the aerospace industry. The intensive job training program includes use of tools such as computer numerically controlled (CNC) lathes and mills to produce precision metal parts. Ideal candidates will have a great attention to detail, proficiency with basic computer skills, and must pass a Work-Keys Level 4 English and Math assessment. Course fees of $3,300 will be waived for qualified applicants.

Attendees must arrive on or before 10:00 a.m. and be available to stay for the entire event, which concludes at 5:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to dress professionally, bring copies of their resume and be prepared for on-site interviews.
The Santa Clarita WorkSource Center is collaborating with College of the Canyon’s FastTrack Institute to offer the eligibility workshop. Selected and non-selected candidates will have access to all services available at the Santa Clarita WorkSource Center to identify employment opportunities. A community job survey conducted by College of the Canyons estimates entry level CNC wages begin between $11-$13 per hour plus over time (OT), one-year wages range between $13-$17 per hour plus OT, and three-year wages range between $16-$20 per hour plus OT.
