The College of the Canyons ‘Blockbuster Summer’ schedule of classes has returned, with three action-packed class sessions that are sure to have students and community members sitting on the edge of their seats and clamoring to see which of their educational goals will be realized next.
The 2015 summer session will include seats for approximately 18,000 students spread across more than 600 sections of high-demand “core” classes in a wide range of academic subjects and disciplines.
The majority of class sections will be made up of courses that most students need to either graduate, transfer to a four-year school and/or meet prerequisites, thus providing an excellent opportunity for students to get a jump start on their course work before the start of the fall semester on August 24.
Classes will be offered at both the Valencia and Canyon Country campuses, as well as online.
In fact, the college is scheduled to offer more than 175 online courses during summer 2015, with the bulk of those beginning during the first two class sessions.
“The large selection of online courses provides an excellent opportunity for students who are looking to complete their coursework early in the summer before enjoying some time outside of the classroom,” said Dr. Jerry Buckley, Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction at the college.
The college’s first five-week summer session will run June 8 to July 10.
A second eight-week summer session will begin June 15 and run to Aug. 7
A final five-week session of classes will begin July 13 and run to Aug. 14.
The college’s ‘Blockbuster Summer’ schedule of classes is now posted online at www.canyons.edu. A printed schedule will not be offered to students.
High school students entering the 11th and 12th grades in fall 2015 can begin registering Monday, May 29. The college’s open registration period for all students will begin Tuesday, June 2.
Summer 2015 enrollment fees at all 112 California Community Colleges will remain at $46-per-unit, as mandated by the state of California. However, those fees are waived for concurrently enrolled high school students.
