College of the Canyons men’s golf won a second straight conference event, its fifth of the season, while seeing all six players finish in the top 15 of the field’s individual standings during a productive day at Crystalaire Country Club on Monday, March 17.
Canyons (65-6), which continues to lead the conference standings, carded a five-man score of 378 to create some distance ahead of runner-up Ventura College (393) and third place Santa Barbara City College (402).
COC freshman Jacques Struyf earned medalist honors for the second time this season with an even-par round of 72.
The Cougars held the top three positions in the field with sophomore Ethan Posthumus (74) finishing in second place and freshman Anthony Nilson (76) tying with two others in third place.
Owen Crockett (80) finished in a tie for 10th place while Ryan Giardino (82) and Alexis Benchelef (82) slotting into a four-way tie for 15th place, though Benchelef had his score scratched from the final team scoring.
In the season standings, Canyons sits at 41-1 in conference play, five points ahead of second place Ventura (36-6).
Meanwhile, Struyf leads the individual season standings at 442 total strokes, just ahead of Posthumus at 444. Crockett is currently in fifth at 458.
The Cougars are back in action Monday, April 7 at the WSC event hosted by Antelope Valley College at Rancho Vista Golf Course.
