Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a Newhall man for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after they allegedly caught him smoking methamphetamine Tuesday afternoon.
Here’s the story from the station’s social media:
“Yesterday afternoon after school let out in (the) SCV, deputies were patrolling near Lyons Avenue in Newhall when they spotted a suspicious tarp that had been set up in a small dirt area located between two businesses.
“Deputies stopped to check and see what was going on, and they came in contact with a male adult, who was just sitting under the tarp, in a small chair…and smoking methamphetamine.
“This is (the) SCV, and this is not okay.
“Deputies arrested the Newhall man, 48, on charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was transported and booked at our jail.”
The station’s post also includes the national helpline for individuals with substance use disorders. The hotline is available 24/7 at 800-652-HELP (4357), in English or Spanish, and will provide referrals to local treatment facilities and support groups.
