Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies used Narcan Naloxone nasal spray to revive a man who apparently overdosed on fentanyl in Saugus, according to a post on the station’s Facebook page.
Here’s the story:
We were asked recently how it was going with the use of the Naloxone nasal spray, an opioid overdose antidote, that our deputies were deployed with a few months ago.
It’s been going fine. As a matter of fact, we had a Naloxone success story back on Dec. 4.
It was a Monday night around 8 p.m., and our dispatchers received a call about a person that was unconscious in a Bouquet Canyon Road shopping center parking lot.
Deputies responded and found an unresponsive 27-year-old man who had apparently overdosed on fentanyl. One of the first deputies on scene administered a dose of the Naloxone nasal spray. After two doses, the man was revived and started talking to the deputies. Paramedics transported him to the hospital to be medically evaluated.
That man’s life was saved that night. May he use his second chance at life to seek help so that he can live a long, healthy and prosperous life. Our deputies will continue to carry Naloxone and utilize as needed.
