Detectives at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are investigating a crash that killed one person on Bouquet Canyon Road near Seco Canyon Road Wednesday night.
Earlier reports indicated that a driver was exiting a driveway near the Goodwill Store at approximately 9:50 p.m. when the driver sideswiped a vehicle traveling southbound on Bouquet Canyon Road. But officials said it is still too early in the investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
“That is one of two stories that we have to clarify,” said Lieutenant Bauer of the SCV Sheriff’s Station. ‘We have one story basically saying (both cars) were traveling side-by-side going southbound (on Bouquet) and one car sideswiped the other and the other story is one car exiting the driveway. So we’re still trying to figure it out.”
Lt. Bauer said the detective who is handling the case was unavailable for comment.
However, it has been determined that the impact of the crash knocked one vehicle to the curb, striking a fire hydrant, rolling over twice and ultimately striking a telephone pole. The driver was transported to Henry Mayo Hospital where he was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.
No other information was available regarding the condition of the other driver, whom deputies did not arrest.
“For us to arrest someone at the scene, we’d have to have some clear indication that the person is arrestable based upon the initial investigation, based on the facts at the scene,” Lt. Bauer said. “Later on, the investigation is going to determine whether a driver is culpable in a criminal aspect or not.”
Officials are also investigating whether alcohol played a role, given the close proximity of the crash to a local bar.
“I can’t give you any indication one way or another,” Lt. Bauer said. “I would have to talk to my traffic investigator for a more definitive answer on that. But it’s standard for us to investigate drivers of each vehicle involved as to whether alcohol was a factor or not.”
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121.

If the person who survived the crash caused the death of the other driver we expect an arrest of that individual . Too many people have died in this town and we’ve only seen slaps on the wrist when drugs and alcohol aren’t involved .
Damn repubtards keep crashing
