Two people were killed in a collision Tuesday morning on State Route 126 at Chiquito Canyon Road.

The two people killed in the crash have been only identified as a 21-year-old male from Santa Clarita who was driving a 2012 Toyota Corolla and a 58-year-old male of San Bernardino who was driving a 2012 Mack 3 Axle truck, according to California Highway Patrol reports.

A third person, a 49-year-old man from Santa Paula who was driving the 2013 Peterbilt 3 Axle semi-truck, was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.

Names of the deceased have not been released pending notification of the next of kin.

The driver of the Corolla was traveling southbound on Chiquito Canyon Road and allegedly turned onto the SR-126 westbound, directly into the path of the semi-truck, according to CHP reports. The driver of the semi swerved and collided with the Corolla.

Upon impact with the Corolla, the semi crossed the eastbound SR-126 lanes and crashed into the Mack 3 Axle truck head on, according to CHP reports. The semi truck overturned and spilled lemons across the entire road.

The drivers of the Corolla and the Mack 3 Axle were attended by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the reports.

A Sigalert was issued at 9:44 a.m. for both directions of Highway 126 for an unknown duration. CHP said a hard closure of westbound lanes was implemented at Wolcott Way, with eastbound lanes closed on the Ventura County side of the line.

The road is expected to be closed until early Tuesday evening.

Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.
