The Federal Bureau of Investigation has asked the public’s help in identifying and locating a man who allegedly robbed a Canyon Country bank on Friday.
The robbery occurred approximately 11:30 Friday morning in the Wells-Fargo branch inside the Stater Bros. market in the 26900 block of Via Princessa.
The FBI has nicknamed the suspected robber the “Faux Badge Bandit” because he packed an official-looking badge and may be impersonating a police officer.
According to witnesses in some of the bank robberies, the suspect was wearing a 7-point badge on his hip along with a shoulder holster.
The man is described in an FBI news release as white, between 40-50 years old, 6′ tall, weighing 230 pounds.
During the robberies, the suspect enters the bank carrying a bag and presents a note demanding cash. The suspect has threatened victim tellers that he would shoot co-workers if the victim did not comply with his demand.
A handgun has been brandished during the robberies and can also be seen inside the holster.
Investigators believe the suspect may be armed with multiple weapons.
Investigators also believe he is linked to three other robberies in the Los Angeles area (LaVerne, Pasadena and Claremont) since May 31.
The investigation is being conducted by the Pasadena Police Department, the LaVerne Police Department, the Claremont Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI.
If you have seen the suspect or know his identity or whereabouts, call 310-477-6565.

In a stunning role reversal, this time Wells Fargo was the robbery victim. But, at least, they are insured against loss.
