1861 - Andres Pico and partners granted state franchise to build toll road and cut 50-foot-deep cleft through (Newhall) Pass; they failed; Beale later succeeded [story]

fresh-madisonAfter a four-year run in Old Town Newhall, owner Madison Gable is closing her Fresh apparel store on Main Street.

“I have just been able to retire from my business because I’ve been lucky enough to work with the fastest growing skin care company in the world,” Gable said in a Facebook post.

Gable, 27, is affiliated with Nerium International, which markets NeriumAD, a night cream developed from the patented extract of the Nerium oleander plant.

“I will be closing Fresh” and moving to Waikiki, she said. “My store must be empty before I leave.”

“I have had an amazing four years with Fresh and I hope that everyone can support my new life-changing decision to be happy and pursue my dreams.”

She added: “Keep it fresh!”

Located across the street from the Repertory East Playhouse, Gable’s store was heavily involved in promotional events for the downtown business district, providing runway models for car shows and for the city of Santa Clarita’s monthly Senses events.

Fresh also was a provider of wardrobe apparel for Tami Edwards, co-host of SCVTV’s morning show, “SCV Today.”

Also closing is Fresh’s next-door neighbor, the W.O.L.V.E.S. surf shop, which announced a going-out-of-business sale in mid-December.

The W.O.L.V.E.S. space had been occupied by OutWest during most of Fresh’s run. OutWest is still going strong in Old Town Newhall in a new location around the corner in the old red “Signal” buildings at 22508 6th Street.
