L.A. County Medical Examiner-Coroner officials have identified the man whose body was found in the Santa Clara River bed in Canyon Country on Sunday as Andrew Vetromile, a 44-year-old transient, according to officials.

While the autopsy is still pending, there is no evidence of foul play, Larry Dietz, Coroner spokesman, said Friday afternoon.

“It does not appear so,” Dietz said.

Absent suspicious circumstances, Homicide detectives are not investigating further, a bureau spokesman said Friday afternoon.

“There’s no obvious signs of foul play with the man that was found in the was yesterday,” said Lt. Derek Alfred of the Homicide Bureau.

“We won’t close the case out 100 percent until we get the (autopsy results) back from the Coroner’s office,” he said.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives will investigate the death of a man in his 40s whose body was found in the Santa Clara River bed in Canyon Country on Sunday, according to authorities.

“Yesterday about a quarter after 11 the station received a call from an informant that said they saw somebody lying in the wash near Soledad Canyon Road and Langside in Canyon Country,” Lt. Mohrhoff, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station spokesman, said Monday morning.

“It looks like it was a medical rescue call for whatever reason,” Mohrhoff said. “We responded with the Fire Department and after that, he was pronounced dead, and it became a Homicide handle.”

“He was a male in his 40s,” Ed Winter, L.A. County Medical Examiner-Coroner spokesman, said Monday morning. “We have a name but we’re not releasing it till we locate family. The cause of death was a possible accident or natural causes. We don’t know at this time. The autopsy is pending.”

“We haven’t received the case yet,” Adam Castillo, security officer with the LA County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau, said Monday morning. “We’re waiting for an identification from the Coroner.”
