The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion Tuesday to include the county as a member of the new North Los Angeles County Transportation Coalition Joint Powers Authority.

The county will join the cities of Palmdale, Santa Clarita and Lancaster as voting member agencies of the newly formed Authority.

The group will set regional transportation priorities and develop the associated planning, programming and projects that will benefit the entire North County subregion.

The Board also approved an allocation of up to $100,000 to cover the contract of an executive director and administrative costs for the Authority.

Supervisor Kathryn Barger will be the county’s representative on the Authority’s board and will have the power to appoint additional representatives in accordance with the terms of the Authority’s agreement.

“The NCTC JPA is going to be critical to the region’s ability to plan and execute projects with revenues from Measure M,” Barger said. “Seeing this JPA come to fruition was a major priority and we have positioned ourselves to succeed. I want to thank each of our partner cities and staff for their efforts to make this a reality.”
