RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Master’s College women’s basketball team improved its 2014-15 record to 6-3 after beating the La Sierra Golden Eagles 85-54 Saturday night in Riverside.
Besides posting an early 1-0 lead 48 seconds into play, the Golden Eagles trailed the 14th-ranked Lady Mustangs for the entirety of the game.
After a successful first half where TMC went 16-34 from the field, 9-18 behind the arc, and 3-4 from the charity stripe, the Lady Mustangs led La Sierra with a comfortable 44-30 advantage at the break.
TMC’s scoring barrage continued after half time as the Lady Mustangs posted an 11-0 run in the opening four minutes, extending their lead to 55-30.
The Lady Mustangs’ dominance continued throughout the remaining of the match as TMC posted a game-high 35 point lead (78-43) over the Golden Eagles at the 4:37 mark.
From there, TMC cruised to its 85-54 victory.
Leading the Lady Mustangs’ scoring efforts was Megan Lindsley (Vancouver, WA) who posted a game-high 25 points. Arriana Hanson (Santa Rosa, CA) yanked down a game-leading 11 rebounds while chipping in four assists. As a team, TMC finished the night by going 32-70 from the field, 15-30 behind the arc, and 13-39 on its free throw attempts. Notably, 80% of TMC’s roster received invaluable playing time in Saturday’s Contest.
Now, TMC returns to GSAC play as the squad takes on the 13th-ranked Westmont College Warriors (7-2, 0-2 GSAC) this Thursday. Tipoff is set for 5:30 PM in Santa Barbara.
