The Master’s College women’s basketball team has signed Sabrina Thompson, a native of Santa Clarita.
“I chose TMC because of its strong biblical foundation, the welcoming environment, and its talented women’s basketball program,” said Thompson. “I am looking forward mostly to growing in my faith, developing friendships, and competing on the court with my team.”
Thompson enters her time at TMC with an impressive resume crafted at Valencia High School, a member of the Foothill League.
The 5-8 Lady Mustang landed on Valencia’s honor roll list for four consecutive years, was named a four-year scholar-athlete, and earned the Viking Valor Award for Social Science.
Athletically, in her time at Valencia, Thompson was both a first- and second-team All-Foothill League selection, and was named second-team All-CIF Southern Section Division 1AA .
Looking ahead to her time as a Lady Mustang, Thompson has her sights set on achieving a number of admirable goals.
“I want to pursue excellence in everything I do, sacrifice myself for my team, make lifelong friendships, and be the best that I can be for the glory of God,” said Thompson.
Commenting on Thompson’s commitment, TMC head coach Dan Waldeck said, “I’ve known Sabrina for many years and the athletic and spiritual growth I’ve witnessed in her make me thrilled to have the opportunity to coach her. She plays both sides of the ball with great intensity and skill, and with her versatile scoring ability I expect her to find great success here.”
Waldeck plans to slot Thompson either on the wing or at the point.
In 2015-16, The Master’s College women’s basketball team posted an overall record of 25-6 and went 14-2 in Golden State Athletic Conference play. The Lady Mustangs look to build on last year’s strong results with a slew of veterans and an impressive class of new recruits.
