A few local Facebook groups have come together to host a vigil for Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Steve Owen, who was killed in the line of duty in Lancaster on Wednesday.
The SCV Emergency Now and SCV Helicopters, Lights, and Sirens groups have planned the vigil for Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Members of the L.A. County Fire Department and other well-wishers line a 14 Freeway bridge as the procession bearing the remains of Sgt. Owen approaches.
“Please join us on Saturday to help show support for Sergeant Owen and the families of the men and women in BLUE!! We will be walking this candle light vigil concurrently with Antelope Valley/Lancaster event. We stand side by side with our neighbors! Please bring candles and cups in blue if possible. We hope to see you there,” according to a post on one of the pages.
