A man found dead in his car Sunday afternoon by a firefighter most likely died of natural causes.
Coroner spokesman Ed Winter said that the man’s identity was still unknown and they have not found any next of kin.
Sgt. Richard Nagler of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said that the man was a transient who allegedly had a girlfriend living around the corner from where he was found on Lost Springs Road in Canyon Country.
Nagler said that deputies were told that the victim would tell the friend that he was leaving for work for the Forestry Service on a somewhat regular basis, returning at a semi-regular time. He was not, in fact, an employee of the Forest Service.
The man was found by a firefighter in the area, who noticed him sitting there with the car windows rolled down a bit. Nagler said that it was apparent by his condition that he had been there for quite some time.
The body was taken to the Coroner’s office.
