The American Diabetes Association announced Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell will be this year’s honoree at the 20th annual Los Angeles Political Roast on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel located at 9876 Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills. Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.
District Attorney Jackie Lacey and Councilman Joe Buscaino will serve up wit and humor as the roasters for the evening. Doug McIntyre, host of McIntyre In The Morning on KABC 790 Los Angeles and columnist for the Los Angeles Daily News, emcees the event.
“The Los Angeles Political Roast celebrates its 20th year this month”, said Arnie Berghoff, a local business leader and co-founder of the event. “This event, a Los Angeles tradition, has raised millions of dollars for the ADA, while bringing together the political and business worlds for an evening of great fun.”
Created in 1997 by Berghoff, Harvey Englander and Los Angles City Councilmember Mitchell Englander after Berghoff’s daughter Laura was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, the roast has raised
$8 million for the Association.
Diabetes is a serious disease that strikes nearly 30 million Americans including 1 in 10 people living in and around Los Angeles. This annual fundraiser benefits the work of the American Diabetes Association’s Los Angeles chapter to stop diabetes and help those living with the disease.
