NORTHRIDGE – CSUN beach volleyball honored its first seniors Thursday, just after the Matadors improved to 15-6 with a 5-0 sweep over Cal State Los Angeles at the CSUN Beach Volleyball Facility.
The Matadors did not drop a set to the visiting Golden Eagles as CSUN concluded the 2018 home schedule with a 10-3 record on home sand.
Shawnee De Oliveira and Cassidy Rosso won for the eight time in the extra match, defeating Bailey Anderson and Erianna Williams 21-6, 21-13. Kristey Markle and Nickeisha Williams picked up the Matadors’ first team point at No. 2, winning 21-12, 21-3 to improve to 13-8 on the season.
CSUN completed the first flight with a 21-9, 21-4 win behind Nicolette Pinkney and Lauren Conati at No. 4. Pinkney and Conati, two of five Matador seniors honored after the match, improved their season record to 14-6.
The second flight opened with CSUN clinching its 15th win of the season, further extending its record for wins in one season.
Erin Indermill and Daniella Molinari improved to 11-10 on the season by defeating Jeshmarie Suarez and Victoria Duarte 21-6, 21-11. Lauren McMurray and Autumn Russell ran their current winning streak to six and their season record to 13-8 with a 21-9, 21-8 victory at No. 3 before Katie Sato and Aeryn Owens swept the No. 1 pair 21-19, 21-14 to push their season record to 15-6.
Following the match, Conati, Pinkney, Russell, Sato and Williams were honored for their contributions to Matador beach volleyball.
