There’s a new Grizzly at Golden Valley High School as Matt Sorensen has been named the school’s new head baseball coach.
Sorenson will take over the Golden Valley Grizzlies program after stops at other high schools including Brea Olinda, Newport Harbor and travel ball programs.
The former CSUF Titan pitched in the 1999 College World Series and was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays – twice.
Sorensen went 17-0 in 30 appearances for the Titans in his two seasons with the team (earning Fullerton’s lone ’99 College World Series win against Texas A&M).
Sorensen attempted a pro career in the Blue Jays system in the early 2000s, however, phsyical breakdowns deterred him from reaching those goals, opting to go into teaching and coaching instead.
