The City of Santa Clarita will serve as the Host City for the Amgen Tour of California Stage 5 Finish, from Santa Barbara, on Thursday, May 14, 2015. Rolling closures will be in effect between the times of 3:10 p.m. and 4 p.m. on eastbound Newhall Ranch Road and southbound McBean Parkway to Magic Mountain Parkway.
These rolling closures will begin shortly before riders enter city limits and reopen behind the cyclists and motorcade. Rolling closures could last approximately thirty minutes in certain parts of the City. Portions of Magic Mountain Parkway, between Auto Center Drive and Citrus will experience a hard closure to accommodate finish line setup and activities.
Residents and businesses are strong urged to utilize SantaClaritaTourofCA.com, which contains detailed traffic information, to plan ahead and minimize any commuting inconvenience. Beginning at 12:00 p.m., the world’s top cyclists will set off from Santa Barbara toward Santa Clarita. The Stage 5 Finish is estimated to occur between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Magic Mountain Parkway at the Westfield Valencia Town Center.
Magic Mountain Parkway, Eastbound Highway 126, Eastbound Newhall Ranch Road and Southbound McBean Parkway will all be impacted due to the race finish. Most street closures are expected to be re-opened by approximately 5:00 p.m.
Due to closures, motorists traveling during the time of the event may be delayed. While cyclists race through town, emergency response vehicles will have unimpeded access to the entire Santa Clarita Valley for the duration of the event. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies will be deployed along the route to help ensure public safety for both participants and motorists, and will strictly enforce posted road closures.
Alternative routes across include utilizing Rye Canyon, Avenue Stanford and Valencia Boulevard.
