The OutWest Concert Series is back again on May 26 with Jennifer Lind. Doors will open at 7 p.m and call time is 8 p.m.
Lind has a flair for ballads and a unique crossover sound of cowboy and folk style music that captures your attention. She is a member of the Western Music Association and the Academy of Western Artists, she released two CDs to great acclaim, “Cowboy State of Mind” and “Christmas State of Mind.”
Encouraged to pursue music by her opera singing mother and accordion playing grandfather, she received a 12-string guitar on her 12th birthday.
Her neighbor, a rock & roll guitarist, taught her a few chords, just enough to be able to work out a few popular folk songs. Marriage and raising a family put music on a back burner. But even though she stopped playing her guitar, she never stopped singing. Five years ago, her husband presented to her a new Martin guitar and she followed her dream crossing paths with her “Trail Boss” producer, engineer and friend, Jason Barney.
Together with friends and talented musicians, they produced “Cowboy State of Mind.” All songs were written by Randy Sparks, except “Old Cowboy” which was written by Jason Barney.
Now a member of the New Christy Minstrels folk group, Lind performs a wide range of musical genres.
“I sing songs that adapt to the ever-changing world of a variety of American music including: Blues, Western, Country, Folk, Pop, and even a little Motown. My goal as an artist is to share music that will resonate deeply in the memories of each member of the audience,” she said. “Every song is like sharing a piece of our life’s history together.”
