Community members and groups are invited to a second public meeting to share their ideas and suggestions on the master plan for the 60-acre Rivendale Park and Open Space on Wednesday, May 8, at 5:30 p.m. in the Century Room at City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard.
The first public meeting on master planning for Rivendale was held this past March, and based on the first round of input, draft conceptual plan alternatives have been developed by RRM Design Group.
The public is invited to view and provide feedback on the draft master plan for the Rivendale Park and Open Space, which focuses on sensitivity to the existing natural environment and enhancing access to the hugely successful Towsley Canyon Open Space. The plans were developed using input from many sources including a March public workshop, site visits, focus group meetings in March and April and public comments received via mail, email and phone.
“This plan is reflective of the community’s desires, and we want to continue receive resident feedback so that the plan will benefit our City and its recreational, cultural, arts and educational needs,” commented Mayor Bob Kellar.
In March 2012, the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission supported the development of a master plan for Rivendale with an emphasis on cultural or historic usage and public theatre. With the help of community workshops, the master planning process will allow the Commission and staff the ability to focus attention on the property, study its opportunities and constraints, and identify the community’s needs and desires for the site. The result of the process will be a master plan and summary report for the Rivendale site.
The City acquired the 60-acre Rivendale property in 1995 and the site is comprised of three parcels that were annexed into the City in 2003.

Yet again, SCV demonstrates the ideology of a cancer cell: growth for growth’s sake.
Huh? It’s park land, much of which is unusable because it’s got derelict buildings on it. The city is trying to make it available for various park purposes.
