Residents are invited to join City of Santa Clarita Transit as it presents recommendations for the 2012 Transit Development Plan at two community workshops hosted this week. The final workshops will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Old Town Newhall Library and on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Santa Clarita Activities Center.
“Residents throughout Santa Clarita, both riders and non-riders, have shared with their opinions, needs and priorities for various transit services,” said Santa Clarita Transit Manager Adrian Aguilar. “We are hopeful that community members will attend one of the upcoming workshops to learn how their input has helped shape future operations for Santa Clarita Transit.”
As a part of a comprehensive outreach effort launched earlier this year, Santa Clarita Transit has gathered feedback and ideas from approximately 2,500 residents through surveys, focus groups and public workshops.
Elements of the draft Transit Development Plan, which will be presented at each of the workshops, includes recommendations for bus routing, schedule times, extension of services, marketing, fares and more. Once approved, the 2013 Transit Development Plan will serve as a blueprint for the continuing development of public transit throughout the Santa Clarita Valley over the next five to 10 years.
Both meeting locations are served by Santa Clarita Transit. Refreshments will be served and Spanish language interpretation will be provided.
