A five-week project to install a reinforced concrete box storm drain under Railroad Avenue in Newhall to improve drainage in the area will start Monday, August 28.

Developer TMC Hollis LLC, with assistance from the city of Santa Clarita, will start the project Monday between 8:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. with crews working to temporarily remove a portion of the median on Railroad Avenue north of Oak Ridge Drive.

A storm drain installation and road reconstruction work will begin on Tuesday, September 5 and last through the end of September.

In order to facilitate the movement of traffic in this area, Railroad Avenue will be restriped to one lane in each direction beginning the morning of September 6, from south of Oak Ridge Drive to south of Drayton Street.

Construction will take place during extended hours and will include weeknights and weekends in order to expedite the completion of the project and reduce impact to motorists.

Residents are asked to be aware of the construction and to plan their routes accordingly. Electronic message boards will be posted to inform motorists of upcoming lane closures.

Wait didnt they just finish the median now they are gonna brake it down to build under and rebuild it again …you would think the city would save money and build the drain before the median upgrade and save the money to spend on something else but watever not like its our money right.
