[KHTS] – Six Flags Magic Mountain is kicking off its summer season with two limited-time thrills – a chance to ride two roller coasters backward.
Magic Mountain opened for daily operation Saturday.
This spring, guests have the chance to ride Batman The Ride and Colossus backwards.
Magic Mountain now has three rides that run backward, including Superman: Escape from Krypton, said park spokeswoman Sue Carpenter.
Colossus and Batman will only be available to ride backward for three months.
Colossus is a classic wooden roller coaster that travels up to 60 miles per hour and has two drops higher than 100 feet.
Batman is a suspended coaster with inverted loops and corkscrew turns, rated for a maximum thrill level.
“(Guests) actually love it,” Carpenter said, referring to Batman Backwards. “It is a totally different experience for them.”
Early spring is one of the best times to visit Magic Mountain, Carpenter said, after daily operation has begun but schools have not let our for summer vacation.
Hurricane Harbor is also preparing new thrills for its Summer 2014 season.
The water park opens on Saturday, May 24, and guests will get the chance to try out a freefall water slide, the Bonzai Pipelines.
The Bonzai Pipelines will “deliver free-fall excitement when the floor drops out from side by side launching capsules,” according to the website.
