The Golden Valley girls golf team beat Alemany by 12 strokes in a non-league match at El Cariso Golf Course in Sylmar.
Freshman Elisa Pierre shot the low round of the match. She was 1-under 30 in nine holes. Amanda Hobbs carded a 4-over 35.
The Valencia girls golf team lost to Oaks Christian by 33 strokes in a match at the TPC at Valencia.
Andrea Webster shot a 7-over 43 for Valencia.
In high school tennis, the Valencia girls won their season opener, 12-6, against Calabasas. The doubles team of Remy Balmain and Katelyn Choi swept their sets.
The Saugus girls tennis team beat Glendale, 11-7. Jessica Moore swept her singles sets.
The Hart girls tennis team beat Quartz Hill, 12-6. Jackie Resler and Natalia Munoz swept their singles sets.
The West Ranch girls volleyball team won its season opener against Louisville in four games.
Alexis Clewis led West Ranch with 20 kills and Carly Carapella had 43 assists.
In baseball, the Dodgers lost to the Colorado Rockies, 8-4, and might have lost All-Star centerfielder Matt Kemp.
Kemp crashed into the centerfield wall trying to make a catch. He was taken out of the game in the second inning with a knee injury.
Meanwhile, the listless Dodger bats led to another loss against the Rockies. The Dodgers have lost three games in a row and two straight in Colorado.
The Dodgers will try to avoid the sweep this afternoon. Joe Blanton gets the start for the Dodgers. He is looking for his first win as a Dodger. Drew Pomeranz starts for the Rockies.
