LANCASTER – The Lancaster JetHawks were unable to earn a series win Sunday, falling 7-2 in the finale of a four-game set to the Inland Empire 66ers at The Hangar.

The 66ers scored six runs in the final three innings to pull away.

Brandon Gold (5-4) delivered with a strong start in a losing effort. The righty allowed just two runs in 6.2 innings. He left after surrendering a go-ahead home run to Alberto Triunfel in the seventh.

Inland Empire (2-2, 35-39) added another run in the eighth on a Jo Adell blast. The 66ers scored four more in the ninth on five hits to put the game away.

Lancaster (2-2, 35-39) scored a run without a hit in the third inning. Carlos Herrera’s single in the fifth was the team’s first hit of the day, and he had two of Lancaster’s four hits Sunday.

Matt Ball allowed a run but no hits in four innings of work, but was not eligible to earn the win. Kida De La Cruz (1-0) pitched two innings in relief to get the victory in his Inland Empire debut.

Brian Serven extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a single in the ninth inning. Serven has matched Manny Melendez and Alan Trejo, who each had 12-game hit streaks earlier this year. Colton Welker’s 15-game hitting streak is the team’s longest of the season.

The JetHawks now embark on a nine-game road trip against a pair of North Division foes. After 24 consecutive games against the South, Lancaster plays Modesto and Stockton in their next 14 contests. The team’s next home game is July 4.

The road trip begins Monday night in Modesto. Rico Garcia (6-7) makes his first start of the Second Half against Darren McCaughan (3-5, 2.21). First pitch from John Thurman Field is at 7:05 pm.
