TMU senior Abigail Frankian capped her prolific cross country career with an off-the-course award.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA) honored Frankian recently as one of 351 student-athletes to be selected as 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.
In order to be nominated, athletes must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must be at least a junior in academic status.
On the course, Frankian finished first overall at the Golden State Athletic Conference championships (in 17 minutes, 44.9 seconds) on Nov. 4, leading the Mustangs to the first conference crown in program history.
She finished 29th at the NAIA National Championships in Vancouver, Washington, this month to earn All-American honors for the third time.
Frankian, a Bible major, was also named a GSAC Scholar-Athlete.
