[KHTS] – Two murder suspects have been deemed unfit for trial, an official said Friday.
A Santa Clarita woman accused of shooting her brother and father at their Canyon Country home, and a Castaic woman charged in the stabbing death of her father were deemed not mentally competent for trial in Department 95 of Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the District Attorney’s Office.
Friday’s rulings do not mean the suspects won’t face trial at some point, Santiago said. Currently, both women have what are called “progress reports” for their status, which is scheduled to take place in the mental health court, known as Department 95.
Castaic Woman Arrested As Suspect In Stabbing Murder
Denise Ann Gillis, 48, of Castaic, was booked on a murder charge in June 2014, when she was arrested near her family’s home shortly after her father, James Gilles, was found stabbed to death.
James Gillis death was reported Sept. 5 at 9:15 a.m. on the 31900 block of Emerald Lane, in a small residential community called Stonegate

Canyon Country Woman Charged With Murder In Shooting
Jessica Paige Greenback, 25, of Santa Clarita, was charged in February five counts in connection with a shooting on the 18000 block of Danielson Street around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, officials said.
In addition to premeditated murder, she’s charged with false imprisonment, two counts of attempted murder and child abuse.
A source close to the situation reported a small child was in the home at the time of the shooting. The child abuse charge stems from the accusation that Greenback allegedly did not allow her 5-year-old sister to leave the room where the shooting took place, according to prosecutors.
Deputy District Attorney Carmella Mejia is the assigned prosecutor.
Greenback is due back for a progress report on her status June 30.
