The UCLA Department of Art is offering a variety of events for the public’s enjoyment this fall, including exhibitions and public lectures. Programs are subject to change. For updated information and confirmation of events, call 310-825-3281 or visit www.art.ucla.edu.
Exhibitions are at the New Wight Gallery, located in the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Center at UCLA. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed on campus holidays). Admission is free. All-day parking ($12) and short-term parking (payable at pay stations) are available in Lot 3 (enter the campus at Hilgard and Wyton avenues). The exhibition program of the New Wight Gallery is made possible through the generous support of Dallas Price-Van Breda.
Lectures are at the Billy Wilder Theater at the Hammer Museum (10899 Wilshire Blvd., at Westwood Boulevard). Admission is free. Parking in the museum’s underground lot is $3 after 6 p.m. The Visiting Artists Lecture Series is made possible through the generous support of the William D. Feldman Family Endowed Art Lecture Fund.

‘Keep in Touch’

“Keep in Touch” is a contemporary fine-arts exhibition featuring varied and interdisciplinary expressions on the theme of “touch.” Curated by M.F.A. students from the UCLA Department of Art, the show includes work by M.F.A. and M.A. students from 11 different Southern California schools.

This exhibition features work by UCLA Department of Art M.F.A. students graduating at the end of the academic year. It includes work in all areas: ceramics, interdisciplinary studio, new genres, painting/drawing, photography and sculpture.

Undergraduate Scholarship Award Exhibition
Opening reception: Thursday, Nov. 21, 5–8 p.m.
This exhibition features works in various media — including ceramics, new genres, painting/drawing, photography and sculpture — by undergraduate art students who have received 2013–14 scholarships from the UCLA Department of Art and the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture.

Lari Pittman
Pittman’s meticulously layered paintings and works on paper have been exhibited nationally and internationally, including in survey exhibitions at Le Consortium in Dijon, France; the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and the Institute of Contemporary Art in London. His work has been featured in four Whitney Biennials and in Documenta X in Germany. Pittman is professor of painting/drawing in the UCLA Department of Art. An exhibition of his work will be on view at Regen Projects in Los Angeles in November.

UCLA Department of Art graduate students’ studios in Culver City will be open to the public after their fall reviews. The graduate open studios event takes place only twice a year, in late fall and spring. Visitors are able to meet the students and see their work in progress in a studio setting.
