Vikings running back Ryan Gorman rushed for 167 yards and scored four touchdowns in his first-ever start at running back as Valencia cruised to a 35-0 win over Saugus Friday night to clinch a share of the Foothill League championship.

It is the third championship in as many years for Valencia football.  They share the league title this year with Canyon.

Coming into the game, Gorman had carried the ball just three times for four yards and three touchdowns all season.

Gorman had scoring runs of three, 12, 52 and 53 yards, while also playing outside linebacker on defense for the Vikings.  Offensive lineman Mikey Halliday scored the final touchdown late in the game after lining up in the back field.

Saugus could never get anything going offensively.  The Centurions (6-4, 3-2) were held to just 35 yards of total offense in the first half, finishing with 100 yards.  The Vikings (6-4, 4-1) totalled 419 yards offensively.

Valencia quarterback Sean Murphy finished 13-of-19 for 173 yards.  Cody Anciano carried the ball seven times for 43 yards, and junior Jake Solley tallied 28 yards on eight carries.

Saugus quarterback Jared Carbajal completed 3-of-7 for 46 yards.  Carbajal entered the game as the league’s fourth best rusher with 1,010 yards on the ground, but finished the night with just 11.  He was sacked five times for -31 yards by the Vikings’ defense.

Colton Jackson led the Centurions running attack with 24 yards.

Despite a shared league title, Valencia will be listed as the Foothill League’s No. 1 seed by virtue of beating Canyon earlier in the season.  Saugus will finish third and get the final automatic berth to the playoffs.  The question now is whether or not Hart, which finished fourth in league, will receive an at-large berth.
