Traffic investigators from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station are investigating the circumstances of a solo vehicle, fatal traffic collision that occurred on West Avenue G at 55th Street West in the City of Lancaster.
Preliminary information gathered at the scene revealed the driver of a 2012 Freightliner, three-axle water truck was travelling westbound on West Avenue G at an unknown speed. When the driver approached 55th Street West, the water truck suffered a tire failure. The vehicle then traveled onto the north shoulder of the highway, where it struck a chain link fence and rolled over.
The driver was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Alcohol or drug intoxication does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
Investigators are seeking the public’s help in locating any witnesses to this collision. The witnesses are encouraged to contact the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station with any information they have.
