[KHTS] – The West Ranch softball team beat Saugus, 2-1, and is in sole possession of first place in the Foothill League standings.
The Wildcats scored a run in the sixth inning to tie the score, 1-1. They took the lead in the seventh inning to win the game.
West Ranch is 3-0 in the Foothill League. Saugus dropped to 2-1.
The Valencia softball team shut out Canyon, 12-0. The Vikings scored eight runs in the second inning to take a 9-0 lead.
Elaine Bunyan tossed seven-hitter to record the shutout. Wendy Cardinali was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Brittany Ross-Smith also had two hits and drove in three runs.
Valencia improved to 2-1 in the Foothill League. Canyon is 1-2.
College Baseball
In college baseball, the College of the Canyons lost to LA Mission, 4-0, and have three-game losing streak.
Dylan Freyre had two of the four hits for the Cougars in the game.
In college basketball, The Master’s College hired Ken Sugarman as the men’s basketball coach. He coached The Master’s College women’s basketball team from 1995 to 2008 and played on the men’s basketball team. He graduated from The Master’s College in 1992.
