A woman has been confirmed dead at the scene of a solo-vehicle collision in Canyon Country.

The crash was reported at Sierra Highway near Scherzinger Lane at 3:10 p.m. Friday, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Public Information Office.

A minivan crashed into a power pole, throwing personal belongings across the road.

A female adult was confirmed dead at the scene, said Detective Dan Finn with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed.

  7. Very sad. Heard the impact then saw the deputies turning south bound traffic around. Jake was coming up Sierra right after it happened said it was horrible.

    Between the college kids flying up that street to COC East and the natural openness of the street, there is a bad accident at least once every couple weeks. I live two miles from that spot and have seen it from Vasquez to Soledad. Sucks.

    Very sad. I passed by and my heart broke. Looks like everything that was strewn about were items in her van. Very, very upsetting.

  12. A little follow up, spoke with the city today. Have a Meeting on Monday. I will not stop till this whole mess is fixed.

  21. We need to get together with Canyon Country Advisory and make a huge statement at the next city council meeting. We need medians and lights on our side of Sierra Highway. We pay the same amount in Taxes as Valencia homeowners do!!!!

  23. I’m still in shock, and still wonder how fast was she going, and how she loose control.. When I was driving through there I was praying to God that no kids where in this car..? May The Lord keep her soul in eternal peace..
