Vayu Yoga, an award-winning yoga and pilates studio in Newhall, is up for sale, according to the owner, Wendy Hassenpflug.

The sale, for an undisclosed price, includes the company itself, the trademark for Vayu Yoga, the website and the studio’s equipment, Hassenpflug said Tuesday.

“The Vayu Yoga studio is perfect for personal training space, yoga, pilates — any teacher that has considered owning their own business,” she added. “It’s an easy walk-up.”

The Main Street location on Newhall has seen a big benefit from the regular events the city of Santa Clarita has held, such as Thursdays at Newhall.

Because some of the aerial yoga classes offered at the studio are unique to Vayu Yoga, including aerial yoga techniques Hassenpflug brought to the Santa Clarita Valley, the studio represents a rare opportunity to take over an established, one-of-a-kind business, she said.

“(The studio) has 12 yoga wall stations, which don’t exist anywhere else in Santa Clarita,” Hassenpflug said.

Hassenpflug, who has a Master of Science in Kinesiology, completed her thesis on aerial yoga, a form of yoga that incorporates fabric hammocks and adds the elements of suspension and decompression.

“The fabric fosters support to take yoga practitioners to a place that most yoga students can’t go to,” Hassenpflug said.

However, if a business owner wanted to operate their own studio for a different type of health, wellness or fitness class, the 970 square feet of studio space represents a perfect opportunity, she said.

The Vayu Yoga studio opened its Newhall location in June 2013, after Hassenpflug built up her home business and needed room to expand.

The studio equipment included is two pilates reformers, which are weight-resistance pilates equipment that help enhance a pilates floor mat practice, Hassenpflug said. The equipment is used frequently by those trying to strengthen an injured muscle.

The studio is operating as usual during the time being, Hassenpflug said, with five teachers and  a variety of offerings, including meditation, floor-based yoga, aerial dance and pilates Monday through Saturday, morning and evening classes.

The location of the Vayu Yoga studio is 24353 Main St., at the corner of Eighth and Main streets in Newhall.

Those interested can call the studio 661-222-9262 or email at VayuYogaSCV@gmail.com.

  2. So…this page is a businesses for sale advertising page now? Weird

  3. @ Lizabeth Woods Bunkell … Personally, I think it’s news when local, established businesses are either put up for sale or closing down. It tends to show trends within the valley.

For instance, when Tresierras Markets ceased operations in the valley, one wondered if this was due to competition from Vallarta, declining surrounding environment or possibly undue pressure from a city council looking to force out certain Main St., Newhall businesses (e.g. Newhall Hardware).

Therefore, in my eyes, not so weird. Then there’s the fact it’s a free, privately run page you’re visiting. They can post whatever content they deem pertinent.
